Academic RecognitionSuccessful graduates are awarded an Associate of Science Degree witha major in Radiography by Regis College. Regis College is fully accredited by the New England Association of Colleges and Universities. Pinning CeremonyPinning ceremonies are held in May each year. At this event, each graduate receives the nursing program pin. In addition, awards are presented to students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement. GraduationGraduation ceremonies are held in May each year at Regis College. At this formal commencement exercise each student who has met the graduation requirements of the program during the past academic year receives an associate of science degree from Regis College. Alumni AssociationPeriodically, continuing education programs are offered to alumni. All graduates are members of the Alumni Association. Associate degree program graduates also enjoy the privileges of Regis College alumni. RecreationStudents plan a variety of activities during the school year that may include class gatherings, community service events, and seasonal parties. On the Weston campus, students may use the athletic complex facilities, which include a 75-foot pool with outdoor deck and patio, Jacuzzi, sauna and fitness center. Basketball, tennis, volleyball and badminton courts are also available. The Fine Arts Center provides musical and theatrical experiences. In addition, students may easily use public transportation to nearby Boston to enjoy the city's varied cultural and recreational activities. Student FacilitiesStudents enjoy a fully equipped student lounge with kitchen area, cable TV and computer with Internet access. Quiet study rooms and individual lockers are also provided on the Medford campus. Meals may be purchased at the Medford campus hospital cafeteria or at the Dining Room and College Cafe' on the Weston campus. DressUniforms must be worn when students are involved in most patient care activities. Information concerning the purchase of uniforms is sent to accepted applicants with other enrollment information. Transportation and ParkingStudents provide their own transportation to and from all learning experiences. In order to best serve patients, Lawrence Memorial Hospital, like all surrounding community hospitals, reserves on-site parking for patients, visitors and some staff. During the day, until 4:00 p.m., all students and many employees park at nearby off-site parking lots and are shuttled to the hospital's Medford campus. The shuttle bus is scheduled to meet both student and employee needs. After 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 a.m., students may park in designated areas on the Medford campus. Weston - On the Weston campus students park in designated on campus lots.
Student ServicesOrientationOrientation programs are required for all entering students. Presentations by administrators, faculty, staff, and current students provide a comprehensive overview of the program, policies, resources and services available to students on both campuses. Also included are information on topics such as personal safety and time and stress management. Academic AdvisementAll full-time medical radiography faculty members will serve as academic advisors to clarify, direct and support students in their academic endeavors. Each student will be seen by one of the faculty advisors at least once per semester once Medical Radiography courses begin. Tutorial Program for StudentsIndividual and group tutoring is available for students through the student tutorial program which pairs students seeking extra help with students who have demonstrated high levels of competence. Students who are tutors must meet established position qualifications. CounselingCounseling services are designed to foster the personal and professional growth of students. Counseling is provided through the office of the Student and Alumni Affairs Coordinator. Confidential and voluntary counseling sessions provide students with the information and assistance needed to clarify goals, develop self-management skills, or cope with sources of stress. In addition, academic advisement and counseling is available through faculty members. Health ServicesGood mental and physical health is required to carry out the academic and clinical requirements of the nursing program. Prior to enrollment, all newly admitted students are required to have a complete physical examination including laboratory tests and selected immunizations. Specific health forms and information concerning health requirements are sent to accepted applicants. Emergency services are available at all times through the hospital's Emergency Department. Non-emergency health services are available through health services on the Weston campus and through the PromptCare Department of Lawrence Memorial Hospital on the Medford campus. Students may also choose to use their own private health care providers. InsuranceHealth Insurance: All students are required to be covered by a health insurance plan and are enrolled in the Regis College student insurance plan. Students must submit proof of enrollment in another comparable plan to be credited the Regis College Health Insurance fee. Liability Insurance: Student nurses acting within the scope of their duties are protected under the hospital's professional liability insurance policy.
Educational FacilitiesThe Fahey Health Sciences Library, Medford campusThe library serves the information needs of the school's faculty and students as well as the health system's administrators, medical staff and employees. The library is accessible to students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is staffed Monday through Friday. All entering students receive basic library instruction as part of the orientation program. The librarian also provides group and individual instruction to students throughout their enrollment including database searching and World Wide Web searching. The library collection contains over 2,000 volumes and approximately 130 health-related periodicals, one-third of which are nursing titles. Computers are available for searching CINAHL, the preeminent nursing database as well as for word processing, PowerPoint production and Internet access for academic research. Access to evidence-based resources such as the Joanna Briggs Institute, Nursing Reference Center, Dynamed, and the Cochrane Library of Systematic Reviews is also available. The library is a member of a state-wide health science library network, the National Library of Medicine's National Network of Libraries of Medicine and the Massachusetts Regional Library System.
