Commitment to a Drug- and Alcohol-Free Workplace

Policy

The Lawrence Memorial/Regis College Medical Radiography Program is committed to maintaining an environment free of drugs and alcohol for all members of the Program community and is committed to meeting its obligations under the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Amendment of 1989.

The Program recognizes the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse and will inform members of the Program community about these dangers.

The Program prohibits the unlawful manufacture, transfer, purchase, possession, or use, in any amount, of alcohol or any illegal drug by employees or other members of the Program community, whether on or off its premises while working for or representing the Program.

Program employees and students found in violation of this statement of a Drug-Free Workplace will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination/dismissal.

Drug and alcohol abuse use affects job performance and the safety of employees, students and clients. The Program's policy is to assure a safe and efficient work environment free from the effects of drug abuse on the job.

Program employees and students who need assistance in dealing with drug and alcohol abuse problems are encouraged to utilize the confidential services of the Employee Health or Program counseling service.

All current and future Program employees/students, as well as appropriate administrative personnel, shall be given a copy of the Drug-Free Workplace Statement.

It shall be a condition of employment/enrollment that each person abide by the terms of this statement, and must, under Federal law, notify the Hospital/Program of any criminal drug statute conviction for a violation occurring in the workplace no later than five (5) days after such conviction.

The Hospital/Program will notify the Contracting Agency or Granting Agency within ten (10) days after receiving actual notice of a criminal drug statute conviction occurring in the workplace.

Any Program employee/student convicted of a criminal drug offense occurring in the workplace must satisfactorily participate in a drug abuse assistance or rehabilitation program approved for such purposes by a Federal, State or local health, law enforcement or other appropriate agency. The Hospital/Program may discipline the employee/student up to and including termination/dismissal.
