Policies for Passing Courses
- All nursing Medical radiography courses are composed of eitheeither theoretical, integrated theoretical andtheoretical with laboratory components, or are clinical courses and clinical components.
- In order to pass medical radiography theory or theory with lab courses, students must achieve a minimum of 78% (C+) grade including passing each respective Medical Radiography courses final examination and (if theory with lab) the lab practical exam. The final course grade in the theory with lab courses combines the theory grade with grading of laboratory work. The formula used to combine theory and lab grades is listed in the course curriculum sheet. Students are evaluated at the end of each course. The student is responsible for achieving the established objectives in each course.
- A minimum course grade of 72% (C-) is required for all general education courses.
- The passing grades for medical radiography clinical courses is as follows:
- Clinical I = 78% ( C+ )
- Clinical II and III = 82% ( B- )
- Clinical IV and V = 85% ( B )
The grade for medical radiography clinical courses is based on a compilation of scores achieved on:
- Exam Competency Evaluations
- Overall performance evaluations (inclusive of affective domain performance and overall clinical involvement)
- Image assessment evaluations
- Degree of completion of stated course objectives.
Policies for Progression and Graduation
- In order to progress from one semester to the next, a student must have successfully completed all previous medical radiography courses in the curriculum.
- The student who does not attain, at the end of each semester, a cumulative grade point average (G.P.A.) of 75% (C) will be placed on academic probation (refer to the Academic Probation Policy).
- A student may fail and repeat only one course within the entire curriculum.
- In order to receive the Associate of Science degree with a major in Medical Radiography, a student who was granted advanced placement into the program through acceptance of transfer credits in medical radiography courses, must successfully complete at least one half of the Lawrence Memorial/Regis College medical radiography courses as well as the required general education courses in the curriculum.
- A full-time student has a maximum of three years from the date of matriculation to complete the educational program of studies (curriculum).
- In order to be eligible for graduation, a student must have:
- Successfully completed all courses within the curriculum
- Achieved at a minimum, a cumulative grade average. of 75% (C)
- Fulfilled financial obligations
- Submitted a completed program exit form
- A student may participate (walk) in the graduation ceremony after demonstrating successful completion of all the medical radiography courses in the curriculum and all but one of the required general education courses. The student must complete the outstanding course by the end of August following the ceremony in order to be awarded the degree.
Academic Honors
A student who achieves a final cumulative G.P.A. of 3.45 or above at the end of the program graduates with honors. College honors are based on the following grade point average criteria:
- 3.90 summa cum laude
- 3.70 magna cum laude
- 3.45 cum laude
A transfer student must achieve a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.5 or above on courses used for transfer of previous Medical Radiography education in order to be eligible for honors. College honors are based on the courses taken in the Lawrence Memorial/Regis College Medical Radiography curriculum.
